Florida Civic Literacy Exam (FCLE)
The Florida Civic Literacy Examination (FCLE) is a computer-based test that measures students’ civic literacy knowledge. Since the 2021-2022 school year, public school students enrolled in United States Government courses and students entering the Florida College System have been required to demonstrate competency in civic literacy by successfully completing a civic literacy course and achieving a passing score on an assessment.
Students enrolled at Aspiring Heights Academy are not required to take FCLE, however, they may be able to participate if the district school permits it. Students who take one of the following courses and pass the FCLE are exempt from the post-secondary civic literacy assessment required by s. 1007.25(5):
- US Government (Regular or Honors)
- Humane Letters 1 History (Regular or Honors)
- American Political Systems (Honors)
- Florida's Pre-IB US Government
- AP US Government and Politics
- CLEP American Government
- American Government 1 (College Dual Enrollment)
- Introductory Survey to 1877 (College Dual Enrollment)
- Introductory Survey Since 1877 (College Dual Enrollment)
Please contact us if your student is interested in taking the FCLE. Note that is it up to your local district school's discretion whether they will allow your student to participate.
Test dates for the 2026-2027 school year are as follows:
- Fall/Winter: Between November 2, 2026 and December 18, 2026
- Spring: Between March 29, 2027 and May 28, 2027
